We hear a lot about mining in Tatabánya, about the mining history of the town, but how much do we really know about it?
Some of you may not have heard of it, but you can learn about the history of Tatabánya in an adventurous, interactive and entertaining way. We would like to offer you a small programme of activities.
In Tatabánya, at the Tulipános Event Venue, there is the Interactive Mining Exhibition, which presents mining and Tatabánya's past in a modern guise, using 21st century tools. In addition to personal experience, visitors can also enjoy virtual and augmented reality. The experience can be enhanced by bringing the field table to life, answering the quiz questions of “Half truth”, trying out the dinosaur room or the VR game.
So it's worth starting your journey at the Interactive Mining Exhibition, where you can get a comprehensive overview, have fun and learn at the same time. Parents, don't forget to bring your kids' Kajla passports!
The adventure continues at the Mining and Industrial Skanzen of the Tatabánya Museum, where you can complement what you see at the Interactive Mining Exhibition with more personal experiences in a unique exhibition space.
The outdoor facilities of the "old shaft XV" have been preserved in the same condition as when they were in operation. The steel-framed shaft tower, the impressive transport machine that moves the scythes, the forge, the water tower, the bathing and changing building, the memorial to the heroes of the war, the former office building housing the plant manager's office, the mine office and the falconry, or the furnished, period classroom all have their own special atmosphere and rhyme well with what you see at the Tulipános Event Venue.
At the end of our tour, we can fly up to the Turul Monument, where we can enjoy a view similar to the one we saw at the Interactive Mining Exhibition. We can visit the Gate of Gerecse and enjoy the panorama of Tatabánya at sunset, replenishing our souls with fresh air along with the beautiful scenery.
